Panama City 2
The second stage of the city, the “Colonial City” built within walls was Spanish owned from 1673-1821. At the end it went to the new government of Panama. The entire Colonial City within the walls is now a UNESCO site. If you buy property in the Colonial City from the government, you need to restore it looking the same as the original outside. The inside changes must be restored according to guidelines. It is hard to get owners willing to restore buildings.
The San Jose Cathedral was built in 1675; Sorry no picture of the front. This is a confessional. It’s really out in the open!
The golden altar is from the Old Town Cathedral that is now in ruins.
The Nativity scene attached to the San Jose Cathedral actually represents the entire life cycle of Jesus. If you zoom out you can see numbers associated with each stage. It was really beautiful!
